The Orchestra at FRP Arts Institute is open to all students age 13-23. The audition requirements are as follows:

• All students need to submit a placement audition. Please submit a link to a video of you playing 3 scales in 2 or 3 octaves. At least one of these scales must be a flat scale. Please also submit an excerpt of your choice (solo or from music) that is 1-2 minutes long. Auditions are due on August 28th.

  • Please be sure that your link permissions are set to “anyone can view” so Mr. Hermanson can review your video. If you need assistance creating a link, please email info@FRPArtsInstitute.org for help. Don’t let this be a barrier to you participating. We are happy to help.

• Fill out the interest form below to reserve your spot today. Space is limited. Submit your audition by August 28th.

• Reminders

  • You must be enrolled in private lessons or your school orchestra. You can certainly be involved in both.

  • You must be willing to work on the music with fidelity in order to do your part as a member of the orchestra.

  • You must attend all rehearsals and concerts. Of course, we will work with you on emergencies and unavoidable conflicts. Please keep in mind that with rehearsal only being once per week, every rehearsal is so important.

  • Rehearsals are on Monday with a few exceptions for holidays and school concerts. See our rehearsal and concert schedule here.
